In a recent survey, 89% of Key West residents believe global warming is effected by human activities.

96% also supported the City's decision to reduce its total community greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2015.

The next step is action - by our government, our businesses and our residents.

Preserving Island Life is about the little things we can do to increase our community sustainability and resilience.

Below you will find 12 themes that we will follow over each 12 month calendar year.

Preserve Island Life is brought to you by the City of Key West, as part of our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our entire community. Through the actions, tools and resources found on this website, the City hopes to help residents, visitors, businesses; organizations, agencies and our own local governments preserve the environment and culture that makes the Florida Keys a great place to live and visit.
